The first thing you’ll need for survival is oxygen. The second is protection from the elements. After that comes water, followed by our favorite of all: food.

These MREs are made by AmeriQual Foods to Department of Defense specifications. The exterior of the case has a Fresh-Check indicator, as well as production and inspection dates.

This is a “Menu B” case, which can contain any of the following MREs. Please note that contents may vary, as the military lets its contractors make substitutions as needed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: MRE Test/Inspection Date vs. Expiration Date
MREs are designed to be shelf-stable for extended periods under proper storage conditions. Unlike traditional food products, MRE's do not have an expiration date. Instead, they are assigned a test/inspection date, which is used to evaluate the product's quality and integrity.

Test/Inspection Date: This date is provided by the manufacturer as a guideline for periodic quality checks. It does not indicate spoilage or a need to discard the product. If properly stored, the MREs can remain safe for consumption well beyond this date.

Shelf Life & Storage Guidelines: MREs stored at room temperature (75 degrees F or lower) can last 5+ years beyond the inspection date. If stored at cooler temperatures (below 60 degrees F), MREs may remain viable for 10 years or longer.
