This Sellier & Bellot 800 round case of 7.62x54R was manufactured in 1989 for military use but was tucked away during the Cold War. Today it goes by the Czech Republic, but in 1989 this country was known as Czechoslovakia. Probably the coolest thing about this is how it was packaged from the factory. The ammo is packed in individual boxes and stuffed inside a sealed metal case. S&B then put this metal case in a wooden crate with handles for easy transport. Although made in 1989, the protection of its packaging has kept this ammunition in new off the assembly line condition.

The full metal jacket bullet loaded in this ammo was meant for military use so it has a steel core and will attract a magnet. While it will be great to shoot on personal property, check with your local range as it may not be allowed. Unlike most modern produced rounds, these are loaded using lacquer coated steel cases with corrosive berdan primers. Sadly, that means they are not reloadable, and you will want to give your rifle a good cleaning after shooting. Whether you want this ammunition to keep as a collectible or an excuse to dust off out your WWII Mosin, this case of 7.62x54R is perfect for any surplus shooter.
