Garbage
These mags are trash. They don't retain ammo worth a damn. Taking them out of a chest rig while loved results in leaving rounds in the mag pouch. They are flimsy and cheaply made. Not worth the money or the risk of malfunction.

Mini-14 Promag 30 round is a bust but the 40 round mags are good.
Price for these are ok but the issue that I am having is that they are not allowing the cartridge to eject from the rifle. I did full mags and partial mages and had the same result every time. I also bought the 40 round mags and am not having a problem with them at all.

Not as good as previous generations.
Not as well designed as a previous generation of the same brand and model. This latest model which I purchased 06/2022 doesn't have a metal insert for hole at the top front which a metal stub in the rifle goes into when the magazine is inserted into the Mini-14 rifle. Also when comparing to the older generation one I own, the base plate of this new generation is thinner. Perhaps the metal insert and thicker base plate were determined to be unnecessary, but while comparing it looks like someone wanted to cut corners just save a cent or two. FYI ProMag, I'd be happy to pay an extra couple cents for a better quality product if that's what it took.

FAIL AND FAIL AGAIN
Recently got a deal on three 30 round Mini-14 ProMag magazines from CTD, loaded them up, and put them in the safe. Three weeks later, I open the safe and two of them have lost their load all over the shelf. I picked up the third one and it sprayed rounds out just as soon as I touched it. SO, I SENT THEM BACK to ProMag and they sent me three more...SAME RESULT. NEVER buy a ProMag EVER again. PS - I have steel Mini-14, Mini-30, AR, AK, SKS, and M-1 Carbine mags that have been loaded for DECADES without failure.

Works great
After reading others comments online, I suspected that these off brand mags would fail. I was pleasantly surprised when the mags fed flawlessly. I loaded the mags with different types of factory ammo, including .223, 5.56, 55g, 70g, m855 etc.... all ammo flawlessly fed and fired through the gun.

You would think that PROMAG would sell top quality Mags. WRONG. If you buy these mags be sure to have a small file handy to rework the mag so it will feed halfway decent. My advice. Do not buy this junk. My bad was I bought 4 thinking, hey PROMAG, good name. WRONG They sell junk. Cons: not not feed ammo

I bought this expecting ProMag to show the same commitment to quality they do with their AR-15 and AK-47 magazines... I didn't read the other reviews and wish I had. They don't fit the gun, plain and simple. Seem to be sturdy enough but its like trying to use the wrong magazine all together. Just spend the cash and get the Ruger ones, it will be best in the long run.

The plastic was too thin on one of the four.I kept finding bullets laying around, and then I saw one pop out of the magazine when it was just laying on the floor. I discovered the lip was to thin and the spring was shooting out ammo, even worse if the mag is barely bumped. The other three work + feed fine.

I really like ProMag and thought it would be like the AK mags which are really tough. But they ended up being really cheap feeling and will only hold 29 rds, and the rounds that do go in, don't go in easily. So just don't waste your time or money.

I've read several conflic
I've read several conflicting reviews of this magazine. My experience has definitely been on the positive side of the issue. I find it to be well built, solid, and reliable. After having fired several hundred rounds through mine, I have yet to be disappointed. The only test that I have not done is long-term storage versus feed-lip failure/expansion. Guess I could, but don't see the need to have a bunch of fully loaded mags lying around. If the zombies start roaming and rioting, should 11/06/12 go bad for the GOP, and the system starts to go to hell in a hand basket, I expect to have enough warning to load up if I need them.

After searching the internet and finding mixed reviews on these mags, I thought I'd check them out. They worked fantastically! Some of the best money I've spent. I will say that when I initially put the mag in my Ruger and tried to cycle it by hand, the spring was so stiff I had to push the bolt forward by hand, but when I was firing the weapon, it cycled perfectly. I will be purchasing more!

I just purchased three of these. They are made of plastic, NOT polymer similar to the PMAGS. They load up fine and fit the gun, so I didn't give them one bullet. When I loaded them, they seemed fine but after I got to the range and in the sun, the plastic got soft and the rounds started popping out the top of the mag. I will say that once in the gun, they did seem to cycle fine. I'm returning these and doubt that I will try another ProMag product.

I have come to realize most items get bad reviews by disgruntled buyers. So I decided to join the other two and write a good review about the product. I do a lot of shooting with my Mini 14. I expect a lot of it and it delivers. The last thing I need is a faulty magazine. I bought 4 of these recently, because I had two wear out on me (different brand, 11 years old). Needless to say, these did NOT let me down. I practice two times a month. It consists of rapid fire 30 rounds as fast as they'll come out, double and triple tap shots, and single sniper shots for accuracy. I am impressed with the quality of these so far. I am hopeful for their future use. They have a lifetime warranty and are made in the USA. I wouldn't ask for more. Plus, the price is hard to beat. I'm going to place an order for a few more this week.

Pro: lightweight, easy to disassemble for cleaning. Con: fits loose in the magazine well. Comments: I bought 4 of these and they all work. With the loose fit in the mag well, it just doesn't feel solid like a Ruger metal mag (but then it costs 1/4 of a Ruger metal mag). This isn't all bad, as it really irritates me to see people holding the magazine when they are firing a rifle. The loose fit is about the same as a Tapco polymer magazine, so I guess it's par for the low-cost Mini 14 magazines.

I originally bought these magazines because they looked nice and the ratings for this magazine were good on other websites. These magazines would not even chamber a bullet for my rifle. I had to force the bolt closed and it still wouldn't close fully. The magazines also feel really cheap. My friend has Promag AR15 magazines and they are downright tough and don't feel anything like the Mini 14 Promag magazines. I do not recommend these magazines for the newer models of the Mini 14...WASTE OF MONEY!

Where do I start. The retaining hole in the front of the mag is not durable to the point it wears out. When inserted into the magazine well there is so much play that the rounds don't always feed properly. If you load up the mag with all 30 rds you cannot load the mag with the bolt forward. If you don't tap the rds all the way back into the mag the nose of the bullet may jam itself into the mag when firing. The only upside to this magazine is the weight, price, and that it sometimes work.

DO NOT BUY these mags. I purchased two and sent both back. The reasons for return are. 1. they only hold 29 because the last round will pop out due to the flexing of the plastic. 2. on one of the mags every other round jammed. 3. they move around too much in the mag well. DO NOT waste your time on these. Cheaper Than Dirt allowed me to return with out any questions. Stick to the factory mags. I wish CTD would take these off their website.

They will eject rounds if there are more than 25 in the mag. They are a little loose in the weapon but that is expected because they are not factory. I had to forward assist the first round of the mag into the chamber. After that the mag fed correctly. I ended cutting off 2' of spring in the mag. Now the mag feeds flawlessly. Oddly enough I can only load an odd number of rounds in the mag. it will always eject the last even round. Bottom line, if youre willing to do a spring job, it makes an acceptable cheap 29 round magazine.

Ok, let's just start off by saying that I have read over a hundred reviews of this mag. Oddly enough its almost 50/50 for or against. I have a 186 series Ranch Mini. I have several Ruger and aftermarket mags some work some don't. I chose to go for it based solely on the price. Man was I wrong!!! This particular mag will not even lock into place or hold back the bolt. It moves around worse than any mag I've ever seen. I was trying to avoid going back to Ruger for mags due to their insane cost but it looks like I'm going to have to. I was extremely disappointed in this (No fault to CDT). SHIPPED SUPER FAST THOUGH. Sending it back same day.

Excellent Mag! Was looking for a good couple of 30 rounders for my mini, and came across these. Best mags I have other than the two factory 20's that came with the rifle. Would highly recommend. I have no wobble, unlike some of my other el cheap mags, just a nice firm fit, and I have never had a malfunction with these mags in the 8ish months and 500ish rounds I've fed through them. Had it for a couple of years, only intermittent use. Is a bit wobbly when in battery. No problems feeding a variety of ammo, when partially filled.Problems when filled to capacity. Will not hold ammo dependably, randomly spits out 1 to 5 rounds as it sees fit. Also when fully loaded, it fails to chamber certain ammo it doesn't like.Think of it as an OK 25 round magazine and you probably will not be disappointed. The fat base may be a problem with some range bags, tactical vests or other storage systems as it is a good deal fatter than the steel mags.I have yet to find an aftermarket 30 round magazine for the mini 14 which functions perfectly, better luck with 20 round variants, and these may be more appropriate for the rifle as the barrel really isn't designed for sustained fire anyway.

I am trying one of these and have no problems so far in my older mini. Folks need to remember that the mini was made with looser tolerances for rugged use in questionable environments. Each rifle will often have a different issue when using aftermarket parts. Some rifles work better with a given mag than others so you have to experiment with different brands to find what works best in your rifle. I agree that the plastic 'feed lips' are a question re: logevity but I have yet to hear of one wearing out (short term). These mags work well in my AR-15 also (model# specific of course).

Recieved this mag, along with a 20 rd. Promag steel, to test in my 183xxx serial # mini. Both worked as they should. Single shot, 2 and 3 shot, as well as rapid fire, the feed was without failure. The only problem. Though the 20 rd. fits tight and secure, the 30 rd. wobbles front to back. That makes me nervous about the life expectancy of the mag. However, for the 30 rds. A mag that doesn't work all the time is nothing more than a paper weight. This is a 20 round paper weight. Constant failures to feed. I like the idea of polymer magazines and I had high hopes for this - bought four and they all failed to perform. My oldest son and I took
My oldest son and I took one of these magazines to our range and fired single-aimed shots, double-taps, and rapid-fired shots through his Ruger Mini-14 and my Ruger GB model Ranch Rifle and we had zero failures to feed from the first round through the thirtieth. This magazine inserted into the magazine well and locked as solid as Ruger factory magazines do. Functionally the magazine is a winner, but...Because of the reinforcing ribs and the extra wide bottom plate, these magazines work out to be one and a half times as thick as standard metal magazines for the Mini-14 and those designed for the AR-15/M16 rifle family. If one has magazines pouches designed for the above, these polymer magazines will be a tight fit, if they fit at all. A double magazine pouch will become a single magazine pouch. If one adjusts for this (having pouches designed for the AK-47 instead), then these magazines are great. We will be ordering more in the future.

These are supposedly a copy of the Thermold mag (which I also own). Unfortunately, it's the attention to detail that makes or breaks mini mag functionality. The latch block isn't placed properly setting the rounds too low in the receiver to feed. In other words, the bolt can't strip the round from the magazine.
