Sure-Pak Meals can be stored for up to five years from the pack date based on storage temperature. This is known as "shelf life." Shelf life may be extended if stored in a cool temperature. Heat may shorten shelf life. Freezing is not recommended as it may damage the seal on the pouches used to package the entrees and side dishes, causing them to spoil.
Temperature Shelf Life*
70º Fahrenheit 5.5 years
80º Fahrenheit 4 years
90º Fahrenheit 2.5 years
100º Fahrenheit 1.5 years
* Based on NATICK's study of Meals Ready-to-Eat, which uses packaging and production technologies like that of the SOPAKCO Sure-Pak . This information is provided as a general indication of the effects of storage temperature on Sure-Pak Meals and is not a guarantee of the actual shelf life.
MRE's do not have expiration dates like most foods, however they have a four digit code that represents the manufacturer date (also referred to as Pack Date); the first digit represents the final number in the year of manufacture and the last three numbers indicate the day of the year (out of 365 days).

Beware! Heaters do not work!
Got a good variety of meals, no more than 4 of the same type. Packaging for most pop tarts was opened and were stale. None of the MRE heaters worked at all even after 15 mins of submersion in appropriate amount of water. Does not fulfill its purpose of warm meals in the field and would not purchase again despite the cost.

Great preper item!!!!
Great packaging!! Arrived earlier. Great for emergencies. Would recommend to my friends and others. Just one thing, would be nice to have a good variety of 14 different meals instead of repeat meals. Over all great price and product. I most likely will order again as soo as i can this month.

These are a deal.
You get what you pay for, at ~$2 each you can't expect them the to be up to the same level of the $10+ ones. Most of the poptarts are busted open and the ones that aren't taste like plastic no big loss. The heater are also hit and miss and again to me no big loss when I eat MREs I am in a place that I don't be other with warming them up. The entrees, bread, crackers, and tootsie rolls have all been intact and very edible. The manufacturing date was 2017 and inspection/packing date is 2020 so hopefully they never got too hot but like I said they were edible and never made me sick. For the price they are good if I wanted the world I would have gotten the $15+ xmres. These are a deal.

I would not depend on this product for survival situations
I bought these for survival situations I'm glad I went through all bags (24) 20 of the pop tarts were busted open. None of the heaters worked so that's leave one pouch of so so food the bread or whatever that is is just nasty. I'm glad I wasn't depending on these and I'm glad I look first. Very poor product Cons: Heaters don't work pop tarts busted open

I would not but again
They should drop this product heaters dont work, 90% of the pop tarts broken open, extremely inconsistent packaging. Food so far is ok minus the pop tarts .

The heaters do not work, which defeats the purpose of an MRE
If you like eating cold meals then buy these. I ended ip using my jetboil to heat the entrees up in boiling water. Dont waste your money on these.

I believe this product is as advertised and a good value
I bought this product to serve a need and that need is for disaster food, food disruption and a supplmet to my family's dry food rations to complete my 30 day disaster food supply if that need ever arises and I hope it never does. For the price I paid of 39 per box this is a steel (it sells for a lot more on amazon and ebay)... And trust me in case of an emergency like food supply disruption this food will be used with out any complaints and the 39 dollars paid Will seem like a steak. Pros: Good value

Never again will I buy this product
Very disappointed in the selection in variety of the meals... The meals selected had multiples of the very same meal and not much of a variety Pros: Neatly packaged Cons: Very little variety of meals

Not first quality MREs
SOPAKCO has been in the MRE business for a long time, but these miss the mark by a wide margin. PROS - 14 meals. I got 4 beef ravioli, 2 Chicken with vegetables, 1 Chicken with tomatoes and feta cheese, 1 spaghetti with meat sauce, 2 penne pasta with vegetables and sausage, 1 roast beef with vegetables, 1 chili mac and beef and 2 cheese tortellini. It's a good variety, but at least 1 breakfast entree would have been nice. - The outer plastic packaging is robust and can take rough handling. - The lower sodium content is appreciated, and didn't impact the taste of the one entree I sampled. CONS - In one meal the Pop Tarts got ripped open due to improper packaging, and had gone rancid. Made the rest of the contents smell not that great. - The only flameless ration heater I tried DID NOT WORK. - The sides are the same in every meal: 2 Pop Tarts, M&Ms, two MRE-style crackers and a packet of jelly. - These MREs have a 2017 pack date, but the M&Ms had a "best used by" date of July 2018. - The only condiment is a packet of salt. You also get a robust spoon and a miniscule wet wipe.

I would buy this product again for sure
For storms, and unexpected events Pros: Good value for cost Cons: nada

expect 90% of the heaters to be defective
I bought 2 boxes to help for emergencies. I tested two packages and found some bags vacuum sealer. others not. I haven't had a heater work, though I've only opened a couple of these at random to test.
