Vltor's CASV is a drop in free float rail system designed to replace the stock plastic handguards. Installation is much faster and easier than a typical free float rail, as the CASV simply mounts on to your flat top upper and is secured in place using the delta ring. Vltor does not recommend the CASV-EL, CASV-M or CASV-S to be used without the standard Delta Ring assembly. The interior diameter is large enough to allow a 1.375" sound suppressor within the handguard. Removal of the front sling swivel from the front sight tower is required if your rifle is so equipped. The CASV system is available for a variety of rifle lengths and comes with either a full length rail or a stepped rail for co-witnessing optics. The lower handguard on all CASV systems is removeable to allow for the installation of an M203 grenade launcher.
This CASV chassis is made entirely of aluminum, with the exception of the stainless steel mounting hardware. After mounted, the CASV-S adds less than 1lb (14.3 oz /384g, without mounted rail sections) to the firearm's overall weight. The CASV-S is only available in Black.
Installation note: The installation of this handguard does not require any modifications to the firearm except for the removal of the sight tower sling swivel (if your carbine is equipped with one).
The smooth body construction allows multiple rail mounting points, adaptable to any mission needs. The ELS model includes an accessory rail package with 5 rails of various lengths that can be installed using the include hex drive screw system.
